Surfaces of objects which are used as medical instruments or implants need to be free from infectuous biological substance. These products are therefore sterilisized usually by hot steam. However this procedure destroys infectuous material but does not remove it.
A method not only to sterilize but also to remove organic material is plasma cleaning in an oxygene atmosphere.
It turned out that sterilisation of jaw implants is not sufficient to avoid periimplantitis due to jaw infects but removing of any organic substance is required. The only method to do this is plasma cleaning in an argon plasma.
